The Doctor Nervous???

David Tennant has revealed that he recently had his first ever movie audition in Hollywood.

The Doctor Who star told BBC Wales that he was "nervous" because he had not had to audition for a part since Casanova in 2004.

Tennant said: "I had my first ever Hollywood audition yesterday. The terrible thing is I've been very spoilt in Britain for the last few years - I haven't done an audition.

"I went to this room and I found the place and I had to get past the security guard who wanted to see some ID, and I said, 'I've not brought any ID!' I didn't realise that was something you needed to do to come for an audition."

He added that he had some difficulty when the casting director asked him to "just go off script" because of the limited knowledge he had about the role.

"You have a few sides, you're having to intuit from a few lines what this character may be or what his story may be," Tennant continued.

"So you end up having to improvise around this character's life about which you know nothing and about which you're invited to know nothing. It was sort of alright."

He added: "It was for quite a big Hollywood film, I won't get it!"

David Tennant Tells Us Why His Doctor's So Sorry, And What's To Come

David Tennant has already filmed his final episodes as the Doctor, the time-traveling champion in Doctor Who, but his past is still our future. He explained to us what happens in those episodes, and why they're the most emotional yet.

We were lucky enough to sit down with Doctor Who star David Tennant, plus executive producer Julie Gardner, (re)creator Russell T. Davies and director Euros Lynn, along with a handful of other reporters. We'll post more of their answers to our searing questions next week, but here's the breaking news. Oh, and there are spoilers below...

First of all, Tennant and Gardner insist that there's no news about a possible Doctor Who movie, and they want to damp down speculation that tomorrow's Who panel will include some kind of announcement. There's no announcement, just them talking up Tennant's last few "special" one-off episodes as the Doctor. On the other hand, Tennant promises that if every single audience member comes to the panel dressed as the Tenth Doctor, Tennant will do the panel in the nude. So there is that.

So after spending so much time crafting our video of every single time Tennant's Doctor says the word "sorry," we had to ask Tennant himself: Why do you think your Doctor is so apologetic? And Tennant had a thoughtful answer:

I think he feels guilty. I think he's in a very difficult position. He has to make the hard choices, and he's riddled with remorse for what happened to his people, and the part he played in that, which we'll learn a little bit more about before I disappear. [Laughs] Not that much, just a little bit. It's not the three-part miniseries staring [former 1990s Doctor] Paul McGann. But I think he's tortured, and he travels time and space trying to make it better... but some of the side effects of that are not as we'd wish them to be.

And Tennant admitted for the first time that season three's villiain, John Simm really is coming back. And Timothy Dalton is also guest-starring, as we already pretty much knew. "Bloody hell, Timothy Dalton," he says. "Such enthusiasm to be there." "What a voice that man has," says Gardner. And Wilf (Bernard Cribbins) plays a "huge and fundamental part" in Tennant's final episodes, and brings "such humanity" to the role, says Tennant.

The fact that the Doctor is "the last of his kind, or nearly the last of his kind," will "come back in a big way in the final stories," Tennant adds.

Not surprisingly, Tennant and the production crew all promise some of the series' strongest moments in the final episodes of 2009, and Euros Lynn said he showed the regeneration scene (where Tennant's Doctor "dies" and turns into Matt Smith) to composer Murray Gold, who bawled like a baby.

During the filming, says Gardner, "Every day there was a new goodbye of some sort to someone."

Tennant also says:


The final stories are very emotional... The story takes you to places that the Doctor can't go on a regular basis. It affords an opportunity to confront this immutable character with new challenges and places you can only take him when that man is going to die, that version of that man is going to die. And that's, for an actor's point of view, hugely challenging and liberating and exciting... It's thrilling that we get to make people cry a bit.
And Davies said that you probably shouldn't expect to see his supporting cast — Martha, Mickey, Wilf, etc. — turn up in the show after writer/producer Steven Moffat takes over. Those characters are available for Moffat to use, and he's certainly written for them before, but "He's going to build his own. It's probably time to say goodbye to those characters. Of course, for all I know, he could phoning them all up in Cardiff right now."

David Tennant's Dr. Who out to conquer America

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Doctor Who is often seen as a quintessentially English character -- an eccentric fearlessly fighting Daleks and Cybermen with the help of his TARDIS time machine in the shape of a 1950s London police box.

Now the TV hero is out to conquer America, where, despite enjoying a loyal following, he has yet to compete with other science fiction series like "Star Trek".

David Tennant, the 10th actor to play the "Time Lord", has made four special episodes for the BBC series that will be shown in 2009 and 2010, filling the gap before his successor, Matt Smith, appears on screens.

On July 26 the first episode "Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead" will be aired on BBC America, part of the British Broadcasting Corporation, and available in stores there two days later on DVD and Blu-ray.

"Growing up with Doctor Who, I was aware it had an international life," Tennant said in a telephone interview to publicise the U.S. launch.

"It has never quite conquered America in the mainstream. Even now it's still not quite in everybody's consciousness, although the following it has is devoted. BBC America is keen to bridge that gap."

Tennant, popular with fans since taking over as the Time Lord in 2005, believes that Doctor Who's international popularity may be explained by his being so British.

"That may be part of its appeal overseas, of course, in the same way of (Agatha Christie's) Miss Marple and other British brands," said the 38-year-old Scot. "It's not sci-fi in the traditional American way, it's not jocks in space."


MIXED BLESSING

In Planet of the Dead, Doctor Who is trapped on a desert planet without the TARDIS. When a London bus arrives in the same world, he joins forces with the mysterious Lady Christina to get back home, with the unfortunate bus passengers.

Tennant said that, like other Doctors before him, he had been concerned at first about accepting a role which could prove hard to shake off once he stood down.

"I worried a little," he said, referring to his decision to play the part in 2005. "It would have been peculiar not to have had that thought. (But) I was replacing Christopher Eccleston who was hugely respected as a very versatile and varied actor."

Tennant felt he had been considered for roles partly thanks to the profile Doctor Who gave him, and doubted it would significantly limit opportunities in the future.

Towards the end of his tenure as Doctor Who, Tennant played the title role in a stage production of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" which earned him generally glowing reviews, and he will appear in the forthcoming St. Trinian's comedy movie sequel.

Asked how he felt now his Doctor Who successor Smith had been unveiled to the media, Tennant replied:

"I expected it to feel weirder than it did. It is exciting to be experiencing Doctor Who as a spectator again, and what is also nice is that I am as much in the dark as everyone else.

"I remember how that felt," added the life-long fan of a character who first appeared on television in 1963. "It was thrilling and terrifying and a very exciting time."

NEW Doctor Who actor Matt Smith has revealed the time traveller's latest costume as he film the latest series in Cardiff with new assistant Karen Gillan.

The 26-year-old - the youngest actor ever to take on the role - has been snapped wearing a tweed jacket and bow tie.

But the old-school physics teacher look is offset by a pair of black combat boots.

The Doctor's look has always been an integral part of the character - from Jon Pertwee's velvet smoking jacket to Tom Baker's multicoloured scarf.

Meanwhile companion Amy Pond, played by 21-year-old Gillan, dresses down in baggy jumper, leggings and trainers.

The new series will begin screening in spring 2010, after David Tennant appears as the Doctor in his final three specials. The first, The Waters of Mars, will be aired in November.

Smith said: "The scripts are brilliant and working alongside Karen and the rest of the crew is an inspiration because their work ethic and passion for the show is so admirable.

"I'm excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor."

The new series also sees Steven Moffat stepping into the role of executive producer and writer after the departure of Russell T Davies. Moffat has been a writer on the series since its revival in 2005, and has been responsible for some of the best-received episodes, including The Girl in the Fireplace and the Bafta award-winning Blink.

Returning to the set was Alex Kingston, who appeared as the mysterious Professor River Song in the series four double episode Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead - both scripted by Moffat.

Moffat said, 'And here it is, the big moment - the new Doctor, and his new best friend. And here's me, with the job I wanted since I was seven.

"Matt and Karen are going to be incredible, and Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way - and best of all, somewhere out there, a seven-year-old is going to see them, fall in love, and start making a 40-year plan.'

NEW timelord Matt Smith films his first Doctor Who episodes - dressed like a geography teacher.

It looked like the latest Doc had travelled back in time to the place fashion forgot.

He donned a tweed jacket with elbow patches, braces and a bow tie for the latest series, which is set to feature the timelord's WIFE - played by Alex Kingston.

Matt, 26, also wore black boots and rolled-up trousers.

The preppy, old-fashioned look recalled bow-tie wearing Patrick Troughton, who played the second Doctor in the 1960s.

It's a far cry from the current Doctor, David Tennant, who described his sharp suited and baseball boot look on the BBC1 sci-fi hit as "geek chic".

Accompanying Matt on his adventures is new companion Amy Pond, played by red-haired Karen Gillan, 21.

It looked as if the Scots beauty had taken style tips from Tennant as she wore blue baseball boots with her mini-skirt and blazing red jumper.

She, Matt and Alex, 46, were snapped during filming on Southerndown beach at Bridgend, South Wales.

Matt said: "I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show. I'm excited about the future."

Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffatt said: "Matt and Karen are going to be incredible, and Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way."

The 13-episode series is due to be screened next spring.

Alex Kingston will return to Doctor Who in the upcoming fifth series, it has been confirmed.

The actress was spotted filming alongside new Doctor Matt Smith and Karen Gillan on the first day of filming for the new series, which airs next Spring.

Kingston was last seen in the acclaimed series four two-parter 'Silence in the Library' / 'Forest of the Dead', penned by new showrunner Steven Moffat. In the episodes, her character, River Song, revealed that she knew The Doctor from an unspecified point in his future.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed to Digital Spy: "Alex Kingston will be returning to Doctor Who in the new series featuring Matt Smith. Viewers will have to wait and see who she plays and how her character fits into the series."

Kingston is thought to be returning for a two-episode stint.

Six months after Matt Smith was unveiled as the new Time Lord, the actor finally began filming scenes for his Doctor Who debut this week.
The 26-year-old actor and the doctor's assistant Karen Gillan, 21, were spotted on location in Cardiff filming their first scenes together.

A sneak peek of the new show, which won't be broadcast on BBC until 2010, gives fans a chance to see the Doctor's new costume.

While departing Doctor David Tennant normally wore a plain brown suit with a long trenchcoat, Matt's uniform is more retro and slightly Science teacher-esque.
The new Doctor's costume is a brown tweed jacket, bow tie, rolled up trousers and black boots.

Karen, who plays Amy Pond, looked more modern in a baggy green jumper, grey tights and Converse baseball boots.

Matt and Karen began filming the new series today, which will be broadcast on BBC1 in the Spring.

Arriving on set today, Matt enthused: 'I feel very privileged and proud to be part of this iconic show.

'The scripts are brilliant - I'm excited about the future and all the brilliant adventures I get to go on as the Doctor.'

The show's new writer Stephen Moffatt, who is taking over from Russell T. Davies, is equally enthusiastic.

He said: 'Matt and Karen are going to be incredible, and Doctor Who is going to come alive on Saturday nights in a whole new way.'

Departing David filmed his last scenes of Doctor Who in May, where he was reunited with former assistant Billie Piper, as well as his current helper Catherine Tate.
His final two episodes will be broadcast at Christmas, with viewers seeing David regenerate into Matt.

Matt was announced as the 11th Doctor in January after David announced his decision to depart.

The Northampton-born actor has signed a £600,000 three-year deal, nearly half the amount of David's £1million deal.

Scottish actress Karen was only unveiled as his new companion in May, amid reports ex-EastEnder Michelle Ryan and model Kelly Brook may take the coveted role.
Karen has featured in ITV’s Rebus and hospital drama Harley Street, as well as Channel 4 comedy The Kevin Bishop Show.
The young actress, who is 5ft 11in, has also modelled for designer Allegra Hicks at London Fashion Week.

She briefly appeared in Doctor Who in 2008 appearing as a soothsayer in the episode entitled The Fires of Pompeii

Nigel Havers has been confirmed for a guest role on the new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The veteran actor is expected to appear in two episodes of series three, playing a character who "looks set to change things for Sarah Jane Smith forever".

Brian Miller, actor husband of Elisabeth Sladen, will also guest in the new run. Producer Nikki Wilson told Doctor Who Magazine: "He was simply ideal casting for this pivotal role, which sees him in conflict with Sarah Jane and the gang. Although there's a lot more going on with Brian's character than might first appear."

News of the guest castings follows recent confirmation that David Tennant will appear as the Doctor in a two-episode story.

The BBC today revealed that the companion for the forthcoming series of Doctor Who will be Karen Gillan.

Twenty-one-year-old Gillan will star alongside new Time Lord, Matt Smith, when the smash hit drama returns to BBC One in spring 2010.

With filming due to begin this summer, Gillan beat off dozens of hopefuls to land one of television's most coveted roles.

Gillan said: "I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. The show is such a massive phenomenon that I can't quite believe I am going to be a part of it.

"Matt Smith is an incredible actor and it is going to be so much fun to act alongside him – I just can't wait to get started!"

Lead writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat, added: "We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too."

Doctor Who fans are in for a treat this Autumn as David Tennant makes a special appearance as The Doctor in CBBC's hit drama series The Sarah Jane Adventures with a starring role across two episodes.

Investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, one-time companion to that strange wanderer in time and space known as The Doctor, is reunited with her old friend as The Sarah Jane Adventures is back for a third series of alien-busting adventures on CBBC this September.

Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane, says: "When I heard the news that David was going to be joining us I was absolutely over the moon. Not only has it made my day but it will also make the viewers' day.

"It's fantastic news that Sarah Jane is going to spend some time working with The Doctor again and is testament to just how successful this CBBC series is."

Russell T Davies, Executive Producer of The Sarah Jane Adventures, adds: "Viewers thought they may have to wait until November for the next full episode of Doctor Who, but this is an extra special treat.

"And it's not just a cameo from David – this is a full-on appearance for The Doctor as he and Sarah Jane face their biggest threat ever."

The series includes 12 weeks of brand new adventures featuring a new alien race, the reptilian Veil and their enemies the Judoon, alongside an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.

There will also be a living painting, the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house, monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed and a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.

Alongside adopted son Luke, Sarah Jane's team is made up of Luke's streetwise pal Clyde Langer, their schoolmate Rani, who lives opposite and has aspirations to become a journalist like Sarah Jane, and Mr Smith, their Xylok supercomputer up in the attic, plus Sarah Jane's robot dog, K-9.

This month's Doctor Who Magazine has revealed some details about the upcoming third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures. Executive producer Russell T Davies tells the publication that David Tennant will be starring in a two-part story due to be screened in the Autumn.

Also joining the Tenth Doctor is the robotic mutt, K9 but RTD is keen to stress that this is no fleeting appearance by David Tennant. The writer says, "... it's more than just a cameo from the Tenth Doctor! He's a proper part of the story." He also adds that the two-parter is "extraordinary, wild and powerfully moving," cryptically adding, "let's just say that the wedding of Sarah Jane will be a day for everyone to remember!"

The as yet unnamed tale is written by Gareth Roberts (The Unicorn and the Wasp) who has penned a number of stories for the award-winning show. Other writers for the Series 3 of SJA include Phil Ford (Eye of the Gorgon), Joseph Lidster (The Mark of the Berserker), Brian Dooley (creator of The Smoking Room) and Rupert Laight.

June Whitfield will star in this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, it has been announced.

The official Doctor Who magazine confirms that Whitfield will feature in David Tennant's final two-part adventure at the end of the year.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress is lined up to play a character called Minnie Hooper.

"This is another classic piece of casting from Andy Pyor and his team," said producer Tracie Simpson. "June is practically television royalty!"

She continued: "The entire crew's been having so much fun filming with her, and her presence gives the whole story that extra sparkle, just in time for Christmas."

David Harewood, who is currently appearing in Robin Hood, will also guest-star in the special episodes.

"We've been trying to lure David on to Doctor Who for some time," Simpson revealed. "Now, and at last, the dates fitted!"

Doctor Who fans will be treated to the most exciting finale the BBC1 show has ever seen as Tennant, 38, departs.

Even the inside of the Tardis gets blown to bits during the Christmas and New Year two-parter.

We have been leaked details about the plot and can reveal that Tennant’s Doctor will clash with old enemy The Master.

He also has to battle his fellow Time Lords after discovering they have turned evil.

We can also reveal the warning the Doctor received at the end of the Easter special that “He will knock four times” refers to The Master, played by John Simm, 38.

Companions Donna (Catherine Tate, 40), Martha (Freema Agyeman, 30), Captain Jack (John Barrowman, 41) and Sarah Jane (Lis Sladen, 61) also feature in the plot.

An insider said: “The producers are throwing everything they’ve got into Tennant’s finale. He will go out with a bang.”

Fans will see Tennant regenerate into the new Doctor Matt Smith at the end of the two-part festive special.

BILLIE Piper will return to Doctor Who with ALL the Time Lord’s former companions as part of David Tennant’s final episode.
Billie, 26, will again play Rose Tyler and teams up with other sidekicks Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) and Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman).

The trio will join forces to take on the Doctor’s revived arch-enemy The Master, played again by John Simm.

The episode sees the Timelord regenerate into the new Doctor (Matt Smith).

An insider said: “This will be the most exciting episode Doctor Who have ever done. We really wanted to get all the companions back on board as a fitting send-off to David.

“And of all the enemies for him to face in his final episode it makes sense for The Master to be the main one. Getting Billie to agree is a real coup, but she loved working on the show so much it didn’t take much convincing.”

Rose — who left after series two — formed the strongest bond with the Doctor out of the female companions. She returned for a few episodes in the last series where she was reunited with the Doctor.

Rose then returned to Earth with a separate half-human version of the Time Lord.

Since she left Doctor Who, Billie has gone on to star in the raunchy ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She plays a high-class hooker in the risque show, which is currently on its third series.

We revealed yesterday how her three brothers and sisters are embarrassed about her success.

David, 37, will quit the show after the last of the four specials.

Meanwhile the red London bus set to feature in the first special has been damaged in Dubai by schoolkids.

The double decker, which was smashed up shortly after arriving in Arab state for filming, was stripped for “souvenirs” after producers parked it outside a school.

A show source said: “This really is the unluckiest bus in the universe.”

More 5th Series Companion Speculations

Skins star Hannah Murray has been tipped to become Matt Smith's companion in the fifth series of Doctor Who.

Murray, who played Cassie in the first two series of the Channel 4 teen drama, is supposedly in secret talks with producers about the role, News Of The World reports.

A BBC insider said: "Hannah did some challenging stuff in Skins and they see her as an up-and-comer."

Other stars reportedly being considered for the role include Georgia Moffett, Lily Allen and Kelly Brook.

Russell T. Davies has confirmed that he does not want to "ruin anyone's chances" of being cast as the fifth series companion by using them in this year's specials.

Euros Lyn on Torchwood and Doctor Who

Euros Lyn will stand at the center of the British sci-fi world in 2009.

In addition to shooting each of the five episodes of Torchwood's third season, the Welsh television director will also oversee this year's final Doctor Who episode, in which David Tennant transforms into Matt Smith.

"It's been an endurance test," Lyn told Wired.com. "It was a 16-week shoot for the Torchwood season -- longer than most feature films. But the intensity keeps you focused on the work."

Lyn is careful not to divulge too much in the way of spoilers for the new season of Torchwood, BBC's Doctor Who spinoff that delves into activities at the fictional Torchwood Institute, a Welsh organization that investigates aliens that walk among us.

But he did elaborate on some of the whispers that are already out there.

"When we catch up to our characters, they've mourned the loss of Owen (played by Burn Gorman) and Tosh (Naoko Mori) and are trying to move on," Lyn explained. Owen and Tosh sacrificed themselves to save their friends in the second season's finale.

"For the first time, we'll see Torchwood facing a threat from home while they're also investigating an alien invasion. When they try to discover why all the children in the world have suddenly stopped at the same time, Torchwood also has to deal with human beings who are trying to hide a past mistake."

Set for a summer premiere in both the United Kingdom and the United States, the third season of Torchwood (titled "Children of Earth") will be a week-long TV event with all five episodes airing over five consecutive nights.

"It's one big story playing out over the five episodes," Lyn said. "I've never worked for 16 weeks straight before, but it's such a great script with such a great cast -- I've enjoyed every minute.

"('Children of Earth') reaches out beyond the sci-fi genre. It's a human story of epic proportions."

Before coming to Torchwood, Lyn directed two episodes of Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who, including the Hugo Award-winning "The Girl in the Fireplace." According to Lyn, he's always loved the sci-fi genre and never thought he'd get a shot at directing a Who episode during the show's 15-year hibernation.

"When I read Russell was bringing the show back, I sent him a pleading message to take part," Lyn said. "I loved directing those shows."

Lyn's next Doctor Who venture will be a rare "regeneration story," in which the Doctor will transform into a new physical being -- a Time Lord trait that comes in handy when changing out the actors who play the show's title role. This will be Tennant's final episode, and Lyn is very much aware that he's helming TV history for a show pulling north of 10 million viewers per episode.

Lyn was already in the early stages of prepping the regeneration story, and he's aware that fans and media alike would love to wrench out a few details about the story.

"I've seen the scripts, and they're amazing," he said. "I'm being being very careful not to give anything away, but I think fans will be thrilled with David's farewell and how we set up the 11th Doctor.

"I have to approach the project as I would any other. From the script's perspective. The past or the significance of the episode isn't relevant. You have to start with the script from day one."

For Lyn, that "day one" will continue immediately after the final day of work on "Children of Earth" wraps.

"We're in post-production on Torchwood now, and I'm already into prep for Doctor Who."

Finding Lost Treasure!!!

In a scene right out of a Doctor Who script, a team of volunteers clearing a pond of rubbish uncovered a long-submerged Dalek.

The Telegraph reports that sales executive Marc Oakland was pushing a rake around the bed of the shallow pool when he found the object with its distinctive eye stalk.

The 42-year-old said: "I'd just shifted a tree branch with my foot when I noticed something dark and round slowly coming up to the surface. I got the shock of my life when a Dalek head bobbed up right in front of me. It must have been down there for some time because it was covered in mould and water weed, and had quite a bit of damage. One of the dome lights was smashed, but the eye-stalk was intact and the head and neck stayed in one piece as I carefully lifted it out."

Pond warden Tony Brown, 70, was leading the volunteer squad clearing dumped rubbish from the pond, near Beaulieu, Hampshire. He said: "We made a very thorough search of the rest of the bottom of the pond and there were definitely no alien remnants lurking. We've all agreed it best to keep the pond's exact location under wraps. The last thing we want are sci-fi fans descending on the pond frantically seraching for other Dalek parts."

Mr Brown, who trained as a pond warden with Southern Water, has been helping clear out the area for the past eight years. He said: "We've dredged up everything from shopping trolleys, toys, and bicycles. But this is the first time a Dalek's appeared. We have no idea how it ended up in there, or how long ago. We discovered the BBC often took the Daleks out on location for filming, and they travelled to Hampshire on at least one occasion in the 1980s, when Colin Baker played the Time Lord. Who knows? This might be the remains of one of the originals from the old TV series. I'm told they were built to last."

Tardis Makeover???!!!

The Tardis will undergo a full redesign when Matt Smith joins the cast as the eleventh Doctor in 2010, it has been claimed.

Producers will radically refit the inside of the time-travelling police box and will also enhance the quality of the exterior, The Mirror reports.

A source said: "It will be the most hi-tech, intricate Tardis ever."

Incoming head writer Stephen Moffat is reportedly interested in making sure the Tardis looks good in high definition.

He is also said to be attempting to distance himself from outgoing executive producer Russell T. Davies, and to herald a new era of the show.

Davies has previously admitted that a move to high definition would require the reconstruction of the Tardis to prevent its "flaws" showing on screen.

OK Now this is starting to confirm my fears of Moffet screwing up the show entirely!!!! Also, The Tardis is one of the main icons of the show!!!

Smith May Need ID?!

Colin Baker has joked about the power of time travel to help make ever younger Doctors following the decision to cast 26-year-old Matt Smith in the title role of Doctor Who.
In his column for This Is Local London, the Sixth Doctor revealed that he had recently attended a Doctor Who convention in Los Angeles.

Baker said: "It is heartening that they are still prepared to tolerate the old fogies who used to portray the nation's favourite Time Lord in the age of the new improved programme and the ever youthening Doctor.

"As if David Tennant hadn't already proved the visibly beneficial power of time travel on the genes, the imminent new one, Matt Smith, we are told, is so young that he is likely to be asked for ID if he tries to purchase an intergalactic gargle blaster in licensed premises either side of the Atlantic."

Baker also revealed that he had unknowingly bumped into former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson outside a Belgian chocolate shop in Santa Monica.

Smith Calls Billie for advice

STRESSED Doctor Who star Matt Smith has turned to Billie Piper for advice on how to play the part.

Billie, who previously played the Doctor’s curvy companion Rose Tyler, reveals she is happily mentoring the new Time Lord.

She says: “He called me and said ‘What am I going to do?’”

Piper – who starred alongside Matt in three TV shows – tried to calm her friend’s panic.She has told him he needs no acting advice from her but is happily sharing tips about publicity demands, dealing with fans and the pressures of the smash-hit series.

Billie, 26, said: “Your life completely changes as it’s such a huge show, just about the biggest show on TV.“I had no idea what I was getting into. It’s frightening being in that kind of production and having people suddenly know everything about you. He’s just about to embark on that."

“But I’m a big fan of Matt. He’s a stirring actor and has the right energy for the part of the Doctor. The role is in good hands.”

Matt starred in an episode of Billie’s racy series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, in which he slept with her character Belle.

Pals say he has been “in a bit of a flap” since news broke of his Doctor Who role.One said:

“Hopefully he’ll get it together by the time he starts the role properly.”

Smith who is also 26, makes his debut as the Doctor in 2010, succeeding David Tennant.

Tennant Talks to Smith

David Tennant says he held off the advice when talking to his Doctor Who successor, Matt Smith, but could tell he had the 'right idea' about playing the iconic TV character.

David told What’s On TV magazine about his recent conversation with Matt."We chatted on the phone not long ago and we did exchange a few opinions on what’s about to unfold for him, but advice is a very dangerous thing. Matt’s got an extraordinary journey coming up in all sorts of ways and I’m sure he’ll find his own way through it," says David, who's only just returned from Dubai where he's been filming his next Doctor Who adventure, The Planet Of The Dead."I could tell Matt was very up for it, though, and excited in all the right ways. He says he’s going to take it very seriously and he seems to have the right idea about playing The Doctor, so far as I can tell."

The Planet Of The Dead can be seen over the Easter holidays on BBC One and will also star Michelle Ryan and Lee Evans as the characters Lady Christina de Souza and Malcolm.
