Hamlet Tonight on PBS starring David Tennant

From The Time Vortex

So if you are missing our favorite Doctor,David Tennant,or even going through Tennant with drawl, then here is a nice little treat for you. Tonight, on PBS' Great Performances, will be airing Hamlet starring David Tennant and Patrick Stewart for the first time here in the States. Although Tennant will not be playing the witty cheeky lovable with great hair Doctor that we all love, his performance is out of this world with his portrayal of the tortured soul Hamlet. I have not seen this yet myself so I am very much looking forward to watching it tonight then will most likely be writing my thoughts and reviews tomorrow...lol From what I hear though, Tennant spends most of his time barefoot!!! So how many of you will be tuning into PPBs to watch David Tennant's portrayal of Shakespeare's Hamlet?? Let me know in the comments.

From The Time Vortex

April 28th 8:00pm EST PBS Great Performances USA
The Royal Shakespeare Company's award-winning production of Hamlet, directed by RSC Chief Associate Director Gregory Doran, stars David Tennant in the title role. Made by Illuminations, this screen version of Shakespeare's great tragedy retains the quality and tone of the critically acclaimed stage production and was filmed on location. All key original members of the cast, including Patrick Stewart as Claudius, star in this special 180-minute production, which also has the same creative team. The film is directed by Gregory Doran and designed by Robert Jones, who also designed the stage production.

BBC Interview with John Simm

200x300 john simm Pictures, Images and Photos

The final scenes in Doctor Who are a "brilliant send-off" for David Tennant, his co-star has said.

The Life On Mars actor John Simm returns as The Doctor's nemesis, The Master, in a two-part Christmas special.

He says he had loads of fun working on David Tennant's last episodes, which are now complete.

"It's all done," he said. "I've just spoken to David (Tennant) and he hasn't seen it either. We're doing some dubbing and we go in and do the voice-overs.

"Hopefully we'll see a bit of it then. I'm looking forward to seeing it. It was a great script and we had such fun doing it.

"It'll be a brilliant send-off for Mr Tennant. Last time I did it it was such fun to do. It was wonderful to be asked back and to be in the very, very last one.

"To go head-to-head with him was a real honour. It was lovely to be asked. It was a great, great experience. We had such fun doing it. Hopefully it'll come across."

Simm says one of the main reasons he chose to appear in Doctor Who was because of his son.

He first appeared as The Doctor's nemesis, The Master, in 2007 in a special three-part end to the last series.

The role means the actor's eight-year-old son Ryan can now watch at least one of the programmes he appears in.

He said: "The things I usually do on TV or film are quite adult and he doesn't get to see it.

"He knew his dad was an actor but I never got the chance to prove it to him because he's not allowed to watch Life On Mars or Human Traffic or State Of Play. He wouldn't get it, thank God.

"It was a great opportunity to make my son proud."

The Doctor in SJA

The Doctor appears in episodes five and six of the new series, which will air on October 29 and October 30 on BBC One. The story - titled 'The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith', is penned by Gareth Roberts ('The Shakespeare Code', 'The Unicorn and the Wasp') and also guest stars Nigel Havers as Sarah Jane's groom-to-be.The BBC has just released these synopses of the two episodes and the story as a whole:Overall story summary: "Sarah Jane has met Peter Dalton and wants him to become part of her life; to become a father to Luke perhaps. But Clyde thinks Peter is hiding a secret or two of his own, especially when he and Rani find an empty house where Peter says his home should be..."Part one summary: "The Doctor returns on the happiest day of Sarah Jane's life - but a deadly trap is waiting for them all! As the strands of a clever and careful plan draw together, can even a Time Lord save Sarah Jane, on the day of her arch-enemy's greatest triumph?"Part two summary: "The Doctor joins the battle - but is it too late to save both Sarah Jane and the Earth itself? As the power of the Pantheon of Discord grows in strength, the old friends are separated across different time zones, and must fight to save each other - but for one, there's a terrible price to pay."

Tennant Feeling like a Rock Star???

400x200 David Tennant Pictures, Images and Photos

David Tennant has said that he felt like Robbie Williams after the reception he received from Doctor Who fans at last month's Comic-Con convention in San Diego.

Speaking on an audio postcard recorded for the BBC, the actor said that the streets were lined with people dressed as Stormtroopers from Star Wars and Scooby Doo.

Tennant said: "It was slightly mental. I've never been to San Diego before, so I don't know what it's like normally, but it was just crawling with hundreds of thousands of fans."

Outgoing head writer Russell T. Davies said: "You often get told over there that Doctor Who's not well known and Torchwood's not well known, and I'm beginning to deny that! David, you're far too modest. You were welcomed like a rockstar."

Tennant admitted: "It was a bit like being Robbie Williams for a minute there. I mean they did go crazy, didn't they?"

Davies added: "I was reading all our press clippings last night. I have to say I thought they did that for everyone - no they don't! Yours was really rare and noted by the press and phenomenal.

"I'm really pleased. A lot of press clippings were saying that was an extraordinary welcome for you and how deserved and marvellous it was."
