The Cybermen return to menace in special Christmas Day episode of Dr Who

This is the moment when the dreaded Cybermen return to Dr Who in the Christmas Day special, starring David Tennant.

Fans will also get a glimpse into the future because The Doctor meets the man who is expected to replace him as the Time Lord, David Morrissey, when Tennant stands down next year from the role he has been playing since 2005.

The Christmas Day episode on BBC1 is set in Victorian England as as the Cybermen are revealed, a frightened woman declares: 'A strange creature came out of the shadows, a man made of metal.'

'What manner of men are they?' a terrified vicar asks.

David Tennant will make four more special episodes before he leaves the role. He was recently forced to abandon a West End production of Hamlet due to back problems.
