The Telegraph reports that over 2000 people placed calls to the Doctor's phone number as clearly displayed on screen during The Stolen Earth last week.
Around 2500 callers found a dead line tone - which seems strange, given its on-screen prominence.

Possibly a game for the fans that was never completed?

If you're one of the obsessive 2500 - don't worry, you didn't get charged, an OFCOM representative confirmed:

"It wouldn't have cost anything to call these numbers because they are not real.
"If someone did call it they would hear either a dead dial tone or number unavailable. There are a series of phone numbers we assign to producers for TV series."

Funny though - I could have sworn I got through...
