Injury forces Tate to cancel show
Tates stars in the play with Francesca Annis and Chris O'Dowd
The first public performance of a West End play starring Catherine Tate was cancelled because the actress injured her ankle.
In a statement, producers said the star was in the middle of a final dress rehearsal for Under the Blue Sky on Tuesday when she sustained the injury.
The nature of the injury will not be discovered until the results of an X-ray are known, a spokeswoman said.
She added it was hoped Tate would return to the stage on Wednesday night.
First staged at the Royal Court in 2000 and now showing at the Duke of York's Theatre, David Eldridge's play casts the actress as a teacher who has a fling with one of her colleagues.
Tate was last seen on the London stage in 2005 alongside former Friends star David Schwimmer in the play Some Girls.
