With the survival of Gwen and Ianto, Captain Jack's offer of a job to Martha and the return in our universe of Mickey Smith, it seems that the die is cast for Torchwood Series 3's family-friendly guise.
The rumours have been there for a while, but not until the death of Owen and Tosh at the close of Series 2 did we dare to believe that Mickety-Mick-mick-mc-Mickayyyy would be a part of Torchwood, alongside the lovely Martha Jones.
There's a relationship waiting to happen.
Except of course, the new Saturday night, 5-parter format isn't going to include scenes of an adult or sexual nature.
Which under the circumstances, makes you wonder why the series is even coming back.
We've been highly critical at times of Torchwood; we've also been full of praise when the series gets it right. Cast wise, Series 3 looks ace on paper.
But 5 episodes, a Saturday evening on BBC One in the Doctor Who slot?
Somehow, it doesn't compute. That's not Torchwood, it's something else entirely.

I agree! I really don't want Torchwood to become family friendly because - it just isn't. And cutting it down to 5 episodes really isn't fair. Assuming Martha will replace Owen as resident medic, still wondering how Mickey will take over Tosh's job.
